FRIM celebrates IDF 2019 at Taman Warisan

22 March 2019 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has celebrated the International Day of Forests (IDF) 2019 with FRIM Community Friends at the Taman Warisan FRIM (FRIM Heritage Park) this morning.

In his speech, FRIM Director General (DG) Dato’ Dr Abd Latif Mohmod said Taman Warisan is important because of its history linked to various inspirations, rehabilitation efforts as well as the development of the park since 2007.

The park is expected to contribute towards the sustainability of FRIM’s role, functions and environment apart from having the potential of becoming a place for scientific learning and research, he added.

Abd Latif also expressed appreciation to three FRIM staff, namely Finance Director Mohd Zamshari Abd Rahman, Kepong Botanical Garden Programme Head Adnan Mohammad as well as Development and Public Works Unit staff Jamal Abdul Razak, who have been crucial in the establishment and development of the park. Together with the DG, they were given the honour of having their footprints immortalised in a symbolic appreciation ceremony.

A total of 54 representatives of Community Friends and 25 children of Tabika FRIM joined the planting of 80 trees as well as gotong-royong activity to clean the park. Also present, Deputy DG (Operations) Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah and Community Friends Chairman Mohd Azzirin Datuk Abu Dolah.
