FRIM DDG receives National Standardisation Award 2016

18 April 2017 (Tuesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Deputy Director General (DDG) (Operations) Datuk Dr Rahim Sudin received the 2016 National Standardisation Award (Individual Category) at the 2017 National Standard and Accreditation Award Ceremony recently.

Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Wira Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah presented the award to Rahim at the ceremony held on 31 March in Kuala Lumpur.

Other award recipients of the same category were Prof. Dr Zairi Jaal from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Teng Wan Dung (SIRIM Berhad) and Dr Faridah Hanim Ab Hanan (Malaysian Rubber Board). They have respectively developed over 20 standards based on their respective field of expertise.

Throughout his career, Rahim has served as the Wood Based Panel Products Working Group Chairman; ISO/ TC 89 Wood Based Panels Expert Group Member; Timber & Wood-Based Technical Committee Member as well as Committee Member of the Industry Standards Committee on Fire Safety and Prevention (ISC M).

A total of 200 people attended the award ceremony, organised by the Department of Standards to foster a culture of quality awareness among the public particularly the younger generations.

In 2012, FRIM received the Appreciation Award for Users of the Malaysian Standards at the National Standards and Accreditation Award Ceremony.
