FRIM DG launches Forest Skywalk’s office
1 July 2020 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod launched the operation of the Forest Skywalk Management Office at Kepong Botanic Gardens, yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy DG (Operations) Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah, Forestry and Environment Director Dr Ismail Parlan, Administration Director Liza Ismail, Ecotourism and Urban Forestry Programme (EUF) Head Dr Noor Azlin Yahya, Recreation Management and Recreation Impact Branch Head Dr Ahmad Nazaruddin Mohd Roseli, Forest Skywalk Manager Wan Mohd Nafizul Wan Ahmad and Corporate Communication Head Toh An Nee.

Abd Latif thanked and congratulated EUF Programme particularly Noor Azlin and Wan Mohd Nafizul for the successful completion of the Forest Skywalk Development project despite facing many hurdles.
“The Forest Skywalk is something we are proud of. Thanks to the efforts and contributions of EUF Progamme staff in making it a success,” he said.
Abd Latif also thanked the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MoTAC) for the support given to the project.

The construction of the RM3.5 million Forest Skywalk began on 15 December 2018 and completed on 16 December 2019. It was handed over to FRIM on 13 January 2020.
The skywalk is 18 to 50 metres high and 250 metres long. It is built using aluminum material as the main structure and reinforced with guy wire.
FRIM’s Forest Skywalk will be open to the public after officiating by MoTAC. The date will be announced later. From 2 to 10 July, the skywalk will only be open for FRIM staff.
