15 May 2020 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod has been chosen as Malaysia’s Reading Icon by Dewan Kosmik for its April 2020 edition, in conjunction with the National Reading Decade campaign.

Abd Latif has produced over 300 scientific articles, journals and books for knowledge sharing. Out of the books produced with other FRIM researchers, four had won the ‘National Book Awards’ in 2019, 2016, 2013 and 2010.

Abd Latif Mohmod chosen as the Malaysia Reading Icon by Dewan Kosmik magazine.

His many achievements were recognised by many including accorded the Anugerah Perdana award for the ‘Tokoh Buku Penyelidikan 2015’ and the Anugerah Perdana for the ‘Research and Development (R&D) Icon 2016’ category from the National Book Development Foundation apart from holding six Malaysia Book of Records throughout his service at FRIM.

“Read, read and keep reading! It is such a waste if we do not develop a good reading habit in our daily lives because we can gain a lot knowledge and benefits (from reading),” said Abd Latif.

“Thank you very much, Dewan Kosmik, for this honour. Hopefully, it will serve to inspire and encourage reading amongst Malaysians especially FRIM staff,” he added.
