27 August 2019 (Tuesday) – Several achievements of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Dato’ Dr Abd Latif Mohmod in the field of forestry science have been included a part of the contents of an exercise book entitled, Praktis Fokus UPSR Bahasa Melayu Tahun 6B – 2019’ published by Tunas Pelangi.

An excerpt of FRIM DG’s success is found in ‘THEME 8: Damainya Bumiku’ in the exercise book. Students are asked to read and answer questions based on the details provided including the following achievements of the DG:

• BrandLaureate Most Eminent Brand Icon Leadership 2017 award for the ‘Environment Conservation’ category;
• Top Research Scientist Malaysia Award (2013); and
• Perdana Research and Development (R&D) Icon Award.

The FRIM DG was touched to be chosen as an example in this exercise book and expressed his appreciation to Tunas Pelangi.

“I hope my achievement will inspire and encourage students to continue to strive for excellence in the future,” said Abd Latif.

He also said FRIM often strives to enhance students’ interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as provide them with early exposure to work related to science and research.

Recently, FRIM had also organised the FRIM DG Trophy Innovation Competition for Selangor state to increase students’ interest in science as well as to raise awareness and knowledge on innovation. The competition attracted 80 innovations from 15 primary and 26 secondary schools.
