FRIM receives two more MBR recognitions
27 November 2019 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has received two more Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) certificates, i.e. the 39th and 40th recognitions at MBR Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
The certificates were presented by MBR Marketing Director Jwan Heah to:
- Dr Mohamad Omar Mohamad Khaidzir (Wood Quality and Engineering Programme) for ‘Oldest Operational Timber Testing Machine’ and
- Dr Kevin Ng Kit Siong (Genetic Branch) for ‘First Laboratory to Provide Timber Tracking Services Using DNA Approach’.

Also present to witness the ceremony were FRIM Director General (DG) Dato’ Dr Abd Latif Mohmod, Corporate Communication Head Toh An Nee and Research Officer Praveena Balai Kerishnan.
Abd Latif was touched and pleased because his wish to obtain 40 MBR certificates has been fulfilled today.
“This achievement is accomplished from 2008 to 2019. It is hoped that these MBR recognitions will enable FRIM to be the best forestry-based research agency in Malaysia.”
Abd Latif urged FRIM staff to continue to enhance their research and development activities to stay relevant at all times as well as for the benefit and advancement of the country and FRIM.
He also hoped that this fighting spirit will continue even after his retirement.
