FRIM upgrades HTC facilities

9 October 2019 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has upgraded the Herbal Technology Centre (HTC) facilities to enhance the competitiveness of herbal product processing services to fulfill the needs of the herbal industry.

At the official handover ceremony this morning, FRIM received the HTC Extension Building from Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), which was in charge of monitoring the upgrading work. The FRIM-DID joint venture project commenced in February 2018.

FRIM Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod delivered a welcome speech and signed the project handover document with DID Deputy DG (Specialist Sector) Dato’ Ir. Sabri Abdul Mulok.

Also present, FRIM Innovation and Commercialisation Director Norhayati Nordin, Selangor DID Deputy Director Ir. Saari Abdullah, DID Building and Infrastructure Director Mohd Azmin Hussin, DID Corporate Director Wan Marhafidz Shah Wan Mohd Omar, and HTC Head Dr Zamree Md Shah.

HTC is one of the centres of excellence at FRIM, plays an important role in supporting the herbal industry. The centre, established in 2005 following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard, provides processing and registered product manufacturing services to entrepreneurs in the herbal industry.
