2 March 2020 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) won five silver medals at the 19th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE), and also in conjunction with ‘The Malaysia-Croatia Technology Exchange 2020’, four of the FRIM innovations contested in the ‘Invention & Innovation Awards’ category received ‘International Award of Merit’.

FRIM’s innovation entries in  the ‘Invention & Innovation Awards’ category comprised:

• Active Ingredient SEEL30 with Anti-Ovarian Cancer and Energy Booster Potential led by Dr Nurhanan Murni Yunos;
• KLL092 Standardised Extract: Development of Antidiabetic Agent from Medicinal Plant Based on Orang Asli Kensiu Traditional Knowledge (Dr Fadzureena Jamaludin);
• ‘Jus Laris’ (Noor Rasyila Mohamed Noor); and
• Producing Mechanical Pulp for Molded Products from Tropical Hardwood Timber Waste Mix (Dr Rushdan Ibrahim).

MTE 2020, held in Kuala Lumpur on 20-22 February, was launched by YB Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
