27 July 2020 (Monday) – The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA), Dato’ Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah launched a book entitled, ‘Flora Mercu Tanda Negeri-negeri di Malaysia’ in Kuala Sepetang, Perak, yesterday.

The launching of the book published by Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) was held in conjunction with The National Level International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem 2020.

Also presnt were, KeTSA Deputy Minister Ali Biju, Perak EXCO member Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud, KeTSA Secretary General Datuk Zurinah Pawanteh, FRIM Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod, Forest Department Peninsular Malaysia (FDPM) DG Dato’ Mohd Ridza Awang as well as representatives from non-governmental organisations and other agencies under KeTSA.

Abd Latif and Mohd Ridza are the authors of the book. The other authors who also present were Dr Azian Mohti and Liza Ismail.

This information-friendly publication contains information of tree species representing every state and federal territory in Malaysia.

A total of 32 tree species with heritage value were selected to tell the stories behind the names of the states, districts and regions.

The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem co-organised by KeTSA, FDPM and Perak State Government was held at the Eco-Education Centre Matang Mangrove Forest.
