Noor Azlin Appointed as FRIM’s New Deputy DG
1 January 2021 (Friday) – Dr Noor Azlin Yahya has been appointed as the Deputy Director General (Operations) of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) effective today, replacing Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah who took over as the Director General (DG) post since 1 September 2020.

Noor Azlin, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Forestry) from Doane College, Nebraska, USA in May 1985 and a Master of Science in Resource Management and Policy with a specialisation in Management of Nature Park from State University of New York in August 1987, joined FRIM as a research officer on 15 September 1990.
She was the Head of Ecotourism and Urban Forest Programme before the appointment. Her expertise includes research in urban forestry, forest recreation and environmental education.
She obtained her PhD from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1999 in forest recreation management with specialisation in recreational impacts and visitor’s perceptions. She is an international environmental education expert with recognition from the University of South Africa.
Apart from that, Noor Azlin is also a certified arborist with the recognition of the International Society of Arboriculture, USA and the Malaysian Arborist Association (PArM).
She is the President of the Malaysian Parks, Recreation and Amenity Society (MyParks) for the 2019-2021 term and was the Deputy President of the Playground Safety Association Malaysia (PSAM) for 2018-2020.
She was also actively involved in various international organisations such as the World Urban Parks, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO).
