Public Service DG visits FRIM
27 August 2022 (Saturday) – The Director General (DG) of Public Service, Dato’ Sri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah visited Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) yesterday.
He was accompanied by Public Service Department (PSD) Research, Planning and Policy Division Director Dr Anesee Ibrahim; and Mohd Shafiq’s Special Officers Dr Nur Nazlina Mohd Hanipah and Mohd Zuhaidy A Rahman.
This visit were also attended by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) Secretary General, Dato’ Rosli Isa; as well as Biodiversity and Forestry Management Senior Undersecretary Norsham Abdul Latip.
They were welcomed by FRIM DG Dr Ismail Parlan and Deputy DG (Research) Dr Norwati Muhammad as well as FRIM’s Top Management.
Ismail delivered a briefing on FRIM’s role, functions and achievements as well as FRIM’s research issues and challenges.
Mohd Shafiq also shared his views on the direction of the country’s R&D, especially in relation to natural resources.
He also planted a damar minyak tree (Agathis borneensis) at the Kepong Botanic Gardens in support of the Malaysia Greening Programme – 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign and visited the FRIM Forest Skywalk.
He also officiated the 368-meter long Forest Boardwalk (Pelantar Rimba) built with environmentally friendly Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) to connect the Razak Trail with the Forest Skywalk.
