Located near the second main pond, in front of the Forestry Building (D3), a Tabebuia tree had its flowers blooming during the week of Monday, 22 to 29 January 2012. This species is believed to be Tabebuia ochracea that originated from Brazil. Tabebuia ochracea species is similar to Tabebuia chrysotricha (Golden Trumpet Tree) which is the national tree of Brazil. Tabebuia belongs to the Bignoniaceae or the Trumpet-creeper family.

The spectacular yellow trumpet-shaped flowers decorate the tree crowns and carpet the ground when they fall. Species of Tabebuia genus are often planted as ornamental trees especially, Tabebuia pentaphylla.The conservation status has not been reviewed. The tree flowered profusedly again during the last week of August 2013.
